Who uses this generator

Four common workflows where the screenshot generator removes hours of design work.

Indie Developer Launching First App

Submit to the App Store without hiring a designer. Pick a clean gradient background, add captions describing your three best features, export the ZIP, and upload directly to App Store Connect.

Marketing Team A/B Testing Assets

Generate multiple screenshot variations in minutes — different headline copy, background colors, layout orders — to test conversion in the App Store. Iterate per-cycle without waiting on the design team.

Localization for International Markets

Build one base design, then swap caption text per region (JP, DE, FR, ES, BR). Apple supports per-locale screenshot uploads — localized assets typically lift conversion 15–30% in non-English stores.

Agency Delivering Client Apps

Generate full screenshot sets for both iOS and Android in one session per client. Export branded ZIPs the same day you receive screenshots — turn a 2-hour design task into a 10-minute pipeline.

Why app store screenshots make or break conversion

Screenshots are the single most important visual asset in your app store listing. Apple's own data shows the first three screenshots influence over 60% of download decisions. A polished screenshot set with clear captions and consistent branding routinely outperforms unstyled raw captures by 2–3× in conversion tests.

The hard part is producing screenshots at every required dimension — iOS alone needs 6.9", 6.5", and 5.5" variants for current submissions, and Android adds phone plus tablet sets on top. Manually resizing in Photoshop or Figma costs hours per submission. Our generator handles every dimension automatically, exports a single ZIP, and runs entirely in your browser.

All processing is local — your screenshots never upload to a server. Free, no sign-up, no watermarks. Build your screenshots, download the ZIP, and submit to App Store Connect or Google Play Console the same hour.

Screenshot Design Best Practices

Patterns that lift conversion in App Store and Google Play.

Lead with your hero screenshot
The first screenshot is shown in search results and is the only one many users see. Use your strongest UI or most distinctive feature here — not a launch screen or login flow.
Add caption text to every screenshot
Apple's testing shows captioned screenshots convert 30–50% better than uncaptioned. Keep text under 8 words, use a bold sans-serif font, and stack the caption above the device mockup.
Keep critical UI in the safe zone
iOS Dynamic Island and the top notch hide the top 100px. Android system bars hide the top 24dp and bottom 48dp. Position headers, CTAs, and important content in the central 70% of the frame.
Match your screenshots to your app's visual identity
Reuse your app's primary brand color in the background. Use the same typeface as your app UI for captions. Visual consistency between marketing and product builds trust.
Show real content, not placeholders
Lorem ipsum and grey rectangles in screenshots flag your app as low-quality to reviewers and users alike. Populate with real or representative content before capturing.
Export in sRGB at 100% quality
App Store and Google Play both expect sRGB PNGs. Display P3 or Adobe RGB will be converted and may shift colors. Quality-90 JPGs are also accepted for non-text-heavy screenshots.

Screenshot Generator FAQ

Common questions about creating app store screenshots.

What platforms are supported?

We support iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android (phone and tablet) screenshot formats. The generator exports every size required by Apple App Store Connect and Google Play Console.

What sizes does it generate?

For iOS: 6.9" (1320×2868), 6.5" (1242×2688), 5.5" (1242×2208), and iPad Pro 12.9" (2048×2732). For Android: phone (1080×1920) and 7"/10" tablet sizes. All current submission requirements covered.

Can I add text captions?

Yes. Add custom text captions above or below the device mockup. Choose font weight, size, color, and alignment. Captions are baked into the final image — no overlay HTML.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free with no registration, no watermarks, and no limits. We run minimal display ads to cover hosting; tool workflows themselves are ad-free during editing.

Are my screenshots uploaded to any server?

No. All processing happens in your browser using Canvas and WebAssembly. Your screenshots stay on your device — close the tab and the data is gone. Verify in browser DevTools' Network tab if you want to confirm.

Can I use my own background image?

Yes. Upload any background image (PNG, JPG, WebP) and the generator composes your screenshot on top. Recommended size: 1080×1920 or larger to avoid upscaling artifacts.

Do I need to design separate screenshots per locale?

Only if you want localized text on your screenshots. Apple supports per-locale screenshot uploads in App Store Connect — design once, then export with translated captions for each region. Localized screenshots routinely improve conversion in non-English markets.

Can I edit the device mockup style?

The current preset uses generic iOS and Android device frames. You can choose to disable the frame entirely (raw screenshot only) or keep it for store-ready mockups. Custom device colors are coming in a future update.
